"In my end is my beginning" Solo Show @Don Soker Contemporary Art, San Francisco, CA
A series of works inspired by TS Eliot's "Four Quartets" become a universe of words, numbers, lines and dots: drawings and writings on paper and sea grass, fabrics with embroidered sea grass, compose my world full of missing parts and misunderstandings in foreign lands and back home.
Reading the "Four Quartets" seems like moments where every word is at home (as the author says), expressing how I feel living in-between states of being and longing, while traveling and trying to balance emotions of dislocation and belonging, recognizing and missing, realizing gaps when stronger than being present, and when (very often) efforts become despair, and fears become courage and awes.
To understand more of his poetry, I started writing it down; and to understand the place I live, I made drawings referencing its navigation, topographical, and geological maps.
