"Salty Fields" @Herakleidon Museum, Athens, Greece
A two-person show @Herakleidon Museum, in Athens, Greece, with Aggeliki Loi, curated by Nina Frangopoulou, Marine Biologist, with the contribution of Manolis Karterakis, Art Historian.
Salty Fields is the first exhibition in Greece inspired by marine vegetation, i.e. seagrasses and seaweeds, highlighting an “artistic concern” on the marine environment through contemporary art. Using installations, sculptures, drawings and mixed media art works, the exhibition aims at raising awareness and personal involvement about environmental issues. For that purpose, the exhibition is accompanied by scientific lectures and an educational program for school students, along with the 6th Hellenic Educational Symposium of Phycology. Additionally, two interactive performances took place with myself inviting the audience to weave sea grasses on found fishing lines using a vertical loom, as a gesture of personal contribution on the protection of the oceans.
A catalogue of Salty Fields has been published as well.
Many thanks to all the supporters of this initiative.
Duration of the show: December 10, 2019 - March 29, 2020.
